WIMPS - Weakly Interacting Massive Particles

WIMPS

Weakly Interacting Massive Particles, or WIMPS, are a fascinating new concept in astrophysics.

For a long time scientists have tried to solve the problem of dark matter and WIMPS may be the key to explaining the phenomenon.

Unlike light and x-rays, dark matter cannot be detected directly because it does not emit or reflect enough electromagnetic radiation. Instead, it might be possible to detect dark matter indirectly through gravitational interaction with visible matter. Scientists estimate that WIMPS may account for 90% of dark matter that is missing from the Universe.
